Well, I’m home and I’m jittery. I’ll tackle the first one and then explain the “jittery.” (There’s a summary at the end, if y’all don’t have time right now.)
It’s amazing how much time passes when you’re at home being a bum instead of in a dorm room avoiding work. It probably helps that it doesn’t matter when I get up, as there are no classes to miss. I finally have time to watch movies again (as in “sit down and pay attention” and not “having blaring in the background while frantically working on math homework an hour before it’s due”), which I’ve been enjoying immensely. Quick shout-out to Jennifer for loaning her copies of “A Walk to Remember” and “Kate and Leopold.” [Opinions on both—fully prepared to hate the first one, but it was saved by “Dancing in the Moonlight” (great song)/”two places at once” scene. The second was adorable (although I really should’ve seen the ending coming), and, hey, it had Hugh Jackman. Yum.] I also went to a 10:30 p.m. showing of “The Two Towers” last night [at a theater an hour from my house, so add that to the 3+ hours length of the movie], so I got to relieve my college ways and walk in the front door around 3 a.m. My parents love me, I’m sure.
Man, this is long. And we’re only half-way! Anyway….
As for the jittery-ness…I went to the doctor today to get some moles cut off (I was more than a little paranoid after the cancer lecture in fitness class when some of my moles fit the ABC’s of warning signs). Of course, this meant a great big needle and even some stitches on my right leg (which is kinda cool, since I’ve never needed stitches before—yes, most people would think that was a good thing). After everything was done and bandaged, the nurse asked if I was “woozy.” I, however, never feel woozy after things like this; I just get a jittery feeling where my appendages can’t stop shaking. My leg was especially tap-y, as that was where I had, not one, but two shots to numb the area. It’s chilling out now, y’all, but let’s just say that I’ve had a fun time correcting my typing.
Summary Time! I’m home, I’ve seen too many movies, although I recommend “Kate and Leopold” if you find Hugh Jackman yummy and “The Two Towers” if you like movies of any kind (even when sitting in the front row—I need to do this for every movie, especially as I’m doing it for over half that I’ve seen already this year), and movies with Orlando Bloom especially. (Yes, I care for more than yummy looking guys. There’s just so many of them that I feel like mentioning.) I feel bouncy and jittery instead of woozy and faint whenever medical-type things happen to me, and feel like sharing with the general population. I think this summary is too long….according to the Fye rules, it’s actually paraphrase length now. I won’t tell if you won’t.

I'm done! I'm done I'm done I'm done! Everybody sing! I'm done! I'm done I'm done I'm done! (bum-bum!) And I'm leaving today and selling my books and getting out of this frozen wasteland!
Just a little joyful, sorry. Next post most likely from the slow Sullivan connection (oh, constant internet, how I shall miss thee). See y'all then!

As if all that wasn't enough for one night, when I got back to my room last night [around 11:30-ish], there was a note on my door to pop down and see my friend Michelle. She was bored and, by then, I was wide awake again, so we proceeded to watch "Bridget Jones's Diary" and "Labyrinth" (I'd never seen the first, she'd never seen the second, but there's no better time to watch Labyrinth than 1:30 in the morning). When both were over (at three, if you're wondering), I decided I was finally sleepy again, so I headed off to bed.
Here comes the craziest part of the entire night.
A little after four I woke up because the fire alarms were blaring down the hall. I was just awake enough to grab some shoes and a blanket, and got outside with all the other Dobsinites as we wondered what idiot had pulled the alarm for kicks. It turned out, though, that there was an actual fire on the second floor. I don't know much more past that (I'm going to try and find my SA today and beg her for details), but I know someone put the fire out with a fire extinuisher before the fire trucks showed up. [The fire station isn't even three blocks away and it took them twenty minutes to make it over. I feel so safe sometimes.] They eventually opened the class building across from the dorm so we could hang out in warmth, and we all tried to fall back asleep on majorly uncomfortable couches until they allowed us back in the dorms, 51 minutes (according to the same Michelle) later.
Too much excitement for one night, and I still got up before nine today. Will I crash around 8:30 tonight? Looks favorable.

Man, I've got all sorts of stuff to post tonight.....I think I'm down to two things (although I should probably aim for *three* instead).
1. I finally picked up my marching band paycheck (that's right--picked up--apparently that was my problem....here I was, waiting for them to mail it to me, and it was sitting in the cashier's office the entire time.) and promptly journeyed downtown and bought a few more Christmas presents and my very own copy of All in the Timing by David Ives. It almost feels like I'm trying to prepare myself for directing my own One Act my senior (or super-senior--hey, I *am* double majoring) year, but I really just couldn't find anything by Oscar Wilde.
2. I forgot what this was supposed to be. Sorry.
3. Does anyone (besides Caleb and Jennifer) actually read this? I know I sent out the address and all, but if nobody else comments, I don't know how affective my "I don't have to send emails because I've got my blog" plan actually is. Let me know, y'all.
2. [This wasn't actually it, but I felt like mentioning this also.] Some guy just came into the lab and not only is he talking incredibly loudly to the person one foot away, but he keeps rolling in his chair and--every time he does--it hits mine. I think it's time to go back to the burning hot room.

I think it's time to go back to the burning hot room.
I'm currently sitting in the downstairs computer lab, instead of my usual comfy chair in my dorm room because (A) my room is hotter than blazes and at least there's a fan down here (yup, we're real high tech 'round thems parts, shore 'nuff), and (B) my roommate was still logged onto my happy computer (I've decided to name it "Chester," replacing "Steve," which started to become creepy when I actually met a guy down the hall named Steve who was very puzzled when I was yelling at Steve (the computer) because a file wouldn't come up) so she can play minesweeper during commercial breaks of the ST:TNG marathon leading to the opening date of Nemesis. I've actually been spending lots of time out of the room for this exact reason because anytime Debbie is in the room, the TV is on---which means the TV is always on Star Trek. Today I felt a particular thrill when Debbie was taking a final and I got to watch Trading Spaces for the very first time (I was disappointed; both groups seemed happy with what their neighbors had changed. I wanted more drama than that.).
I had a point. I think. Oh, yeah.....I'm in the lab. Anyway.
I finally saw the first Lord of the Rings, and--let me say--it's a pretty confounded good thing that the next one opens on Wednesday, or else I'd be rather upset with Peter Jackson and Company. You'd think that I'd figure out if there's two more movies, they can't possibly provide much closure at the end of the first. However, as my wonderful brother can attest, I'm able to watch the same movie repeatedly without losing interest because I don't try to think about what may or may not happen next.
I wasn't very happy with the universe when I finished this one. I loathe not finding closure.
It didn't help my movie-watching experience that my friends Tiffani and Megan (who got me Operation for Christmas! Megan is cooler every time I see her), who had seen the movie before, kept laughing at certain spots. Apparently, they'd found some site with the "secret diaries" of all the characters. [No, I don't have the link, but I don't think I want to see the site, since I *like* most movies the way they are.] I think if I see the flick again, I'll appreciate it more, but right now I'm kinda steamed with myself for not figuring out sooner that it wasn't going to end so much as pause. If that makes any sense.
At least I'm prepared for the second one, and all it's cliff-hanging action.

An Official Apology: Today I was walking by someone and suddenly realized I was focusing more on staying in step with her clunky shoes (she was making lots of noise with every footstep) than actually listening to what she was saying.
Danny Rubenstein, wherever you are, I'm sorry--after all these years, I finally realize I am a band nerd.

Debbie just said something. I think she must be asleep, because her breathing's all nice and relaxed (as complared to during the day), but she's never talked in her sleep before. I had my headphones on, so I didn't catch what she actually said, just that she said something. I somehow feel a deep sense of loss, like what she said might've made a differnce to the world, if only I'd been able to hear it. I can't go to bed with this sense of failure...I'm going to win a game of freecell first.
God bless Reading Day!
For those of you not blessed with a Truman education, reading day is when all classes are canceled so the students can study for their finals the next day. Of course, this actually means that we all stayed up late the night before, slept in today, and did basically nothing between waking up and going to bed tonight. What exactly did *I* do? I actually got up around 8-ish, and ate breakfast with the three only other people in the dining hall. I took advantage of the great bandwith this morning (who else was up?), and made gingerbread houses with my hall this afternoon. Then, I got locked out and spent a long time in the library (I wasn't going to pay the buck to get back into my room because I didn't know where Debbie had gone and, therefore, when she'd get back.) reading Newsweek and talking to Jolene (we used lots of "sure things" and plays off of lines from the show until all the people actually studying in the library gave us enough looks that I left). This evening I started making garland out of packing peanuts (after I frolic in them for awhile), and learned how to crochet from Kristen while watching most of Evita and up to the balcony scene of Romeo and Juliet (I add the link so you know which version).
Highlights of the day:
* someone gave me Paul Newman brand popcorn, which has a big picture of his face on the package. I'll never be able to pop this stuff.
* finally getting my gingerbread house perfect in time to watch it all fall apart into a perfect pile of pieces, ready for me to stack and eat
* Coming up with band names---look out world, here comes Sticky Boob and the Cheesy Pants!
* No classes meant no scholarship class....no scholarship class meant no wasting my time....no wasting my time meant I didn't have to watch the guy with the shiny bald head talk! Triple yay!

I know, I left all y'all hanging about the One-Acts last Saturday (which means an extra-long post today!). I've *ever* so proud to say, they were amazing! We'd never done the show so excellently, which is how all shows should go, but never actually do. The only minor problem was when Jolene tried to stick Paul to the table with her fork (through his tie, no less, into the foam-covered table), she did so with such force that the fork actually *popped* back out. Naturally, the audience ate this up, and Jolene tried again. This time, the fork actually bent completely in half. I wish I could've actually seen it (I was busy trying to be invisible for when I had to ring my next bell). This was totally the most fullfilling thing I've done in a long time, and I remember why I love theatre again. (Which is good, because I'm still a theatre major--it's always a good thing to love the thing you're majoring in.)
To top off all that happiness, I actually got flowers from my friends that came to the show! Megan, Tiffani, and Rachel: y'all are wonderful people! I think I need to invest in a vase, though, because the only thing I could find to hold them was my giant Oreo water bottle that all the freshmen got for free.
As for the week, it's been up and down. I found out I received a 101% on my math test (so much better than my 56%), and I also realized I needed a 96% on my fitness final to get an A (as in, only miss two questions--I don't think this happened). I finished my script study at 11 p.m. the day before it was due (last time, I finished it at 11 a.m. on the due date) and then realized I hadn't done anything with my study guide that we were going to discuss in class. I didn't have to present my research paper yesterday, but that means that I have to present it tomorrow. I made ten Christmas cards last night, and it only took me until 1 a.m. to do so.
I have no classes today to "study" for finals, which means my schedule for the day is:
2 PM - Make Gingerbread houses with house
? PM (after Gingerbread) - go to Wal-Mart with Megan and Tiffani
7 PM - watching Labyrinth with the flute section
Yeah, I'm going to work hard. I'll actually probably end up being productive this morning to make up for the afternoon, but it's not looking like that right now. For all you poor college students out there, here's a little bit of "I hear ya" for finals:
Twas the night before finals,
And all through the college,
The students were praying
For last minute knowledge.
Most were quite sleepy,
But none touched their beds,
While visions of essays
Danced in their heads.
Out in the tavern! s,
A few were still drinking,
And hoping that liquor
Would loosen up their thinking.
In my own room,
I had been pacing,
And dreading exams
I soon would be facing.
My roommate was speechless,
Her nose in her books,
And my comments to her
Drew unfriendly looks.
I drained all the coffee,
And brewed a new pot,
No longer caring
That my nerves were shot.
I stared at my notes,
But my thoughts were muddy,
My eyes went ablur,
I just couldn't study.
"Some pizza might help,"
I said with a shiver,
But each place I called
Refused to deliver.
I'd nearly concluded
That life was too cruel,
With futures depending
On grades had in school.
When all of a sudden,
Our door opened wide,
And Patron Saint Put It Off
Ambled inside.
His spirit was careless,
His manner was mellow,
All of a sudden,
He started to bellow.
"On Cliff notes, on Crib notes
On Last Ye! ar Exams.
On Wingit and Slingit
And Last Minute Crams."
His message delivered
He vanished from sight.
But we heard him laughing
Outside in the night.
Your teachers have pegged you
So just do your best.
Happy Finals to All
And to all a Good Test!
Good luck, y'all......don't choke now, we're almost free!

I have to leave for a quick tech run through soon, but before I go, let me just say I look fantabulous for a stage manager! Y'all know in high school where I'd do crew in sweat pants and an inside-out t-shirt? *Right now* I've got my new sweater, my Caramba brand jeans (otherwise known as the "if it wasn't for fitness class crunches, I couldn't fit them" jeans), and some shiny "not-really heels" heels.
I know, I know. None of y'all care what I'm wearing--I really shouldn't care, either. But, when a t-shirt and jeans girl looks this fab, she's got to share.
I'll let y'all know how it went later.

I'm completely stuck on my script study (yeah, I'm finally getting around to it--but I think it's some because I have nervous energy going on for tonight), so I thought I'd ask cyberspace: What's the word for chick who has a suitor? We're supposed to do character relationships and I have things like husband/wife, father/daughter, and then suitor/what? I've no clue.
Help!
Help!
The coolest, stupidest thing I've ever seen (watch out, kiddies, it requires Shockware): Gerbil Derby!
Have I mentioned lately how much I love Fridays? (Or at least, how much they seem to love me?) Yes, technically it's Saturday by now, but I'm still up because it was such a great Friday....I went to the One-Acts with a group of people and had a great time, and then found out afterward that the prof sponsering the O-As was holding a party for the directors and stage managers at her house tonight (there's a full cast and crew party tomorrow, or, I guess, today). While I'd like to think I'll be a stage manager again, I figured why not take advantage of the opporitunity and hooked myself up with a ride. I had a blast, but was starting to feel sleepy, so I came back to my wonderful dorm room, only to realize I wasn't tired anymore (cold winter air can do that to you).
And here I am, at 1:07 a.m. (according to the computer clock), tell all y'all how blessed I was with a splendiferous Friday. Hopefully I'll be able to say the same about tomorrow/today!

Furthering the "Life is Beautiful and Wonderful Today" from before.....
* I just noticed that darling and spifftacular Sam updated her blog again for the first time in nearly forever.
* I went downtown to buy myself a black shirt for working tech staff tomorrow night (yay, One-Acts! Rah!) and ended up not only with an adorable black shirt, but also a gorgeous navy blue sweater. This would totally become my third date sweater if I ever dated anyone--it's that great.
* I spent an entire half hour watching Tiffani's possessed Christmas tree lights blink to the rhythm of the music she was playing (as in, they'd actual slow down and speed up depending on what was playing--they liked "Lady Marmalade")
* I discovered my kooky DVD player has a screen capture option on it and spent the next hour finding my favorite scenes and taking pictures to print out if I ever make it over the computer lab again.
* It was Friday. What else do you need? (I love Fridays. Especially when they're this amazing.)

My desk is now completely different, I finished my math re-take ahead of schedule, I'm blasting "Truly, Truly" over the old episode of SNL on Comedy Central, I'm going to eat ice cream for dessert at lunch. The sun is shining and I plan on singing Christmas carols all the way downtown and back.

I....
* just discovered all the names of Truman apartment buildings come from Monopoly (including Water Works and Community Chest, interesting enough).
* am currently listening to "Send Me on My Way" from the Matilda soundtrack.
* actually e-mail my high school English teacher for MLA help before I even considered asking my professor
* can hardly wait for my marching band paycheck to come in so I can go Christmas shopping
* plan on going shopping tomorrow with or without the check
* am going to rearrange my furniture (today it's my desk) before I even start work on my script study (don't worry, it's due next week)
* am now leaving for a fullfilling lunch of cereal. Amazing how much Froot Loops you can get for $3.50 each meal.

Oh, Dear Lord, My Mother is Going to Kill Me
I was just looking through my old high school English notebook from last year, trying to find some old papers on documentation (the MLA--happily--isn't completely stuck in my head! Rejoice!), when I found a magazine. Checked out to my mother. From May 19, 2001. (Yes, 2001. I'd think it was a misprint, but that's the year on the cover of the magazine, also.)
So, conundrum time. Since she doesn't know, and the library's probably given up hope on it by now--where does that leave this poor copy of Entertainment Weekly? (And, I mean "poor" in more ways than one: the cover story is about The Mummy Returns)
I think I'm going to hope that this is one of the copies I bought from the library before the lady found out she wasn't supposed to sell them. How to explain the card, then? Maybe they're lazy? Oh, golly.

Sorry to ditch y'all for the entire Thanksgiving vacation--I was off being too merry to even hop on the internet (well, except for two seconds on Saturday night to make sure my email hadn't been completely flooded by Cindy-Loo) the entire time. Let's just say this was one of the better Thanksgivings: I ate lots of wonderful food (it's amazing how college dorm food makes you appreciate things more, although I will admit that Sodexho's mashed potatoes were better than my own grandmother's), spent way too much money on sale items, and actually did a fair amount of my homework. All in all, spifftacular.
Of course, then I had to come back to my freezing cold dorm room. I guess they turned down the heat (they couldn't have turned it completely off because some people stayed over break), because every place in this building is cold. Even the bathrooms aren't their usual sauna-selves. Debbie actually brought some [non-frozen] soup from home, stuck it in the fridge, and pulled it out for supper an hour later completely frozen. She had it out on the heater for a couple more hours before it finally defrosted enough to eat.
Crazy crazy crazy.
Just like this upcoming week. If I don't post much on here during the next week, I'm very sorry. It's the week before finals, and I start to twitch a little when I think about all that I have going on between now and December 18th. But I'll be okay. I'll be fine and dandy.
Lord be with me.
